Hello

Boone County friends,

I’m asking for your support as I seek a seat on the Boone County Board of Education, and I don’t do that lightly.

Education has always been personal in my family. My mom, Betty Cline, devoted her life to Boone County students. She began her teaching career at Van High School and retired from the Boone Career and Technical Center. My mom's reputation wasn’t built on titles. It was built on years of caring about kids, holding them accountable, and showing up every single day.

That commitment continues today.

Teaching is important in our house. My son RJ is a teacher at Ramage Elementary and also serves as an assistant basketball coach at Sherman Junior High School. Regina teaches at Sherman High School, and anyone who knows her knows the commitment she has to those students. From proms and graduations to homecoming and everything in between, she gives 110% to make sure students feel supported and proud of their school. Seeing education from multiple angles inside our own household has shown me just how much our educators give and also how important it is that they feel supported and heard.

As for me, I’m Boone County born and raised. I grew up in Racine, right on Short Creek beside Cantley’s Exxon. My dad, Bobby Joe Cline, ran his barber shop beside our house for years, and if you know a small-town barber shop, you know it was a place built on listening, honesty, and accountability.

I’m a proud 1995 graduate of Sherman High School, where I played basketball and football for the Tide. Boone County schools helped shape who I am. I later graduated from Concord University in 2001 with a BA in Education, because education mattered to me then as it does today. I currently live in Bloomingrose, and Boone County is still home.

I work for Spriggs Distributing Company as the On-Premise / Special Events Manager, covering Charleston, Huntington, Parkersburg, Teays Valley, and the Coalfields. From spring through fall, you’ll also see me at outdoor events across the region promoting our brands and working directly in the communities we serve. My job keeps me out front, listening, building relationships, solving problems, and following through.

I also serve as a Board Member for the Secret Santa Foundation of West Virginia, where in 2025 we helped collect toys for over 450 Boone County children. That experience reinforced something I strongly believe and that is when our community comes together, real impact happens.

I believe a Board of Education member should be approachable and accessible. They should be someone you feel comfortable talking to without needing a formal meeting or feeling intimidated just to share a concern. Honest, respectful conversations are how real progress gets made.

There’s no denying that Boone County Schools have had it rough the last few years. With the state takeover, this is a critical moment for our county. Now is the time to buckle down, work together, and focus on getting our schools back on track so Boone County can come out of this stronger, more stable, and ready to thrive.

Accountability matters to me. That means transparency, follow-through, and making decisions with students—not excuses—at the center.

Most importantly, everyone deserves a voice, including teachers, administrators, parents, and especially students. Education works best when the people closest to it are heard and respected.

I’m not running for a title.

I’m not running for politics.

I’m running for students, teachers, parents, and our communities.

If you believe Boone County deserves steady, approachable leadership rooted in accountability and real Boone County values, I’d truly appreciate your support.

Thank you for caring about Boone County and the future of our schools.
